Trail closure at Portland rescheduled for week of October 30

The Midtown Greenway trail is expected to close at Portland Avenue (County Road 35) for five days starting Monday, October 30, so crews can install below-ground watermain pipes across the trail. This closure was initially expected next week.

The change in schedule will increase efficiency by allowing crews to better coordinate resources with bridge decking activities. This change does not affect the overall schedule for completing the bridges. Crews will still be working on the watermain next week, but will focus on sections that do not require closing the trail.

This change may also make it possible to shorten the trail closure by one day with good weather.

During the closure, trail users should follow the signed detour:

  • Park Avenue (existing bike lane for southbound, temporary contraflow bike lane for northbound)
  • East 28th Street (temporary two-way protected bike lane on south side of street)
  • 5th Avenue South (shared roadway use)

Short-term trail closure at Cedar expected next week

Crews will begin pouring concrete for the bridge deck next week at Cedar Avenue (County Road 152). This work will require a short closure for about one-hour on Monday, October 23 or Tuesday, October 24, while crews work on the section of the bridge directly above the trail.

During the closure, flaggers will direct trail traffic to the signed detour:

  • 18th Avenue South (shared roadway use)
  • East 28th Street (temporary two-way protected bike lane on south side of street)
